BRANDING - Our team knew two things. The menu would be a Japanese-Chinese mix. The restaurant, a downtown experience in the heart of Barrington.
pl8 simply asian, is the result of researching the cultures of Japan and China. The 3 things they share are the color red as positive, the number 8 as lucky and dragons. Lucky number 8 was red and made with perfect circles. In Chinese culture, the circle means fulfilled and perfection. In Japanese culture, the circle represents wholeness, both simple and complex. It seemed a perfect fit for this soon to be restaurant.
OUTDOOR and PRINT - The launch campaign, which took place on the Chinese New Year, consisted of billboard, train placement, and flyers handed out at the train station. The marketing launch of pl8 simple asian was a huge success.
WEBSITE - The website was fun to work on. The user immediately connected to an asian feel with the logo animated to asian music. The menu items were beautifully photographed and presented with mouth-watering copy. A specialty drinks menu was included because at the time, it was the first restaurant in Barrington to offer this delight. Was this the place to go and be seen in Barrington? The press page made it seem so.
